To say I love Pharrell Williams would be an understatement, I am completely enamored with him and have been since I was 12 (I’m currently 27). In honor of his 45th birthday, here are 5 songs that Pharrell wrote for other people. To see my favorite songs from Williams click here.
1. Why Should I be Sad – Britney Spears
One of my favorite songs from Britney’s fourth album is Why Should I be Sad. Which is about her divorce from Kevin Federline. Not only did Pharrell write the song, he provided the backing vocals as well.
2. Touch – Omarion
If you were a fan of B2K then you definitely remember Omarion. One of his first solo hits was Touch. To this day its still a bop thanks to Pharrell.
3. U Don’t Have to Call – Usher
Before Pharrell went solo he was writing hit after hit for other artists and Usher is of course on that list. U Don’t Have to Call was written and produced by Williams and Chad Hugo.
4. Sing – Ed Sheeran
We all know Ed Sheeran is a singer-songwriter but even he collaborated with Skateboard P. Sheeran and Williams co-wrote 2014’s Sing. The song has pop and r&b sounds thanks Pharrell.
5. Alright – Kendrick Lamar
One of the most surprising songs that Pharrell helped write is Alright by Kendrick Lamar. The song from Lamar’s third album was written by the rapper, Williams and Mark Spears. The father of three came up with the beat and hook, “we gon’ be alright” which inspired Kdot to write the rest of the song.
Hollaback Girl – Gwen Stefani
Sweet Life – Frank Ocean
Milkshake – Kelis
